Comunicado: Refugio colapsado

The ‘Mágina Animal Shelters Association’ from Jódar (Spain) is being overwhelmed by the increase in the number of abandoned pets.

The ‘Mágina Animal Shelters Association’ from Jódar (south of Spain), with the association ID number G23630171, appeals to all the inhabitants of the municipality and also to authorities’ sense of responsibility and the political commitment, in order to resolve the increase in the number of abandoned pets in this village, during the last couple of weeks.

Some of these animals will never again be rescued to give them the chance to lead a better life, because they have passed away due to the disgraceful conditions under which they were. We, such as partners and volunteers of this association, feel incredibly powerless and helpless contemplating how the other abandoned animals are roaming by the streets from Jódar. The reasons are our local animal shelter is overcrowded and we are only a few partners and volunteers with very limited economic resources who take care for these animals.

We intend to express our immense horror and outrage to all those who does want to listen to us. We firmly believe in education as the best prevention tool when fighting animal abandonment and mistreatment. So, people ought to spay and neuter their pets. However, there are voices that deride and deny the importance about it. We ask for your help to make sure that it is responsible in this respect.

Finally, we believe it is a global problem in society, also in Spain. Therefore, the ‘Mágina Animal Shelters Association’ from Jódar asks the authorities to support us, by increasing awareness through public outreach campaigns against animal mistreatment and against this high level of abandonment. In the end, the Jódar hall town and authorities in general in Spain must to ensure that laws and regulations in this area of animal rights are effectively implemented. They might promote responsible pet ownership and provide assurance that is adopted is never in the street without identifying.

Our main aim is the people and animal good social together, reintegrating hundreds of these animals every year in human life. Thus, we would like to thank all who helped us beforehand on spreading this message, in order to make people aware and to insist that authorities must enforce laws in this sense.

¡For a Jódar free from animal abuse!
